Our libraries are hubs of service and activity in our communities! In addition to offering a huge variety of materials for checkout, our libraries routinely provide a wide range of programming. From baby storytimes to author visits, from book clubs to the wildly popular makerspace series, there is something for everyone. Libraries truly add to the vibrancy of life in our area...and they need your help.
If you believe in libraries and are looking for a great way to give back to your community, look no further. Volunteer at your library! Each library has different needs, so begin by chatting with your local librarian. Opportunities may be seasonal or year-round, creative or routine. You might help with programming or with managing our collection of library materials. The sky's the limit.
Friends of the Library Groups
Many of our libraries have active Friends of the Library groups who are always willing to take new members. These volunteer-run groups are involved in many aspects of supporting their local libraries, including fundraising, sorting book donations, book sales, and other literacy activities. Ask your local librarian whether your branch has a Friends group, and consider getting involved to support your library!
We ♥ Teens!
There are many ways that students 12 and older can get involved and make a difference in their local libraries!
Many teens in our area need community service credit to graduate from high school. Volunteering at your local library is a great way to meet that requirement while making a difference in your community and gaining valuable work experience.
If you love libraries and are willing to work hard, consider applying to be a teen volunteer. You'll have fun and learn loads in the sometimes calm, sometimes bustling world of libraries! Each library has different needs, so begin by chatting with your local librarian. If a volunteer position isn't quite right for you, consider one of these other ways to make a difference at your library.
